Resurfacing and Repair Aside from simply getting old and losing its looks there are potential problems with concrete that sometimes wait years to show, but can't be ignored when they do. A great solution is using garage floor epoxy when other concrete solutions won't work there. There are lots of ingredients to concrete and like any good recipe there's an art to getting the right proportion or making sure that certain ingredients don't clash. One of the most common problems is spalling where concrete starts to show pits or flakes. These can be due to weathering but the problem is accelerated when too much water was used in the original concrete mix. As long as the slab isn't cracked right through then this is not a problem since at Stamped Concrete Fort Wayne we are experts at sanding that concrete right back to remove the ugly pits and flakes and use the porousness of that old concrete to help it bond with a fresh new surface. There's another problem that can happen when the wrong mix of aggregates were used to make the concrete. If there's silica in the mix it will gradually react with the alkali of the cement and can cause what are called pop-outs where small cones of concrete pop up through the surface. Ugly, but not the end of the world if we can grind it back down and resurface it. What We Do After a careful assessment to ensure the base layer of the concrete is sound Stamped Concrete Fort Wayne take your existing old concrete layer and sand it right back.
